Well, the move is finally done, just in time to move again!!!!! I just about had the last box unpacked when the by-law officer came by to tell me I am in an illegal suite and have to move out. This development is apparently in a single family zoning area, and someone filed a complaint when they saw me moving in. There’s at least ten places in here with suites so it’s just plain dumb. My landlord bought the place on the basis that she could rent out the suite, and now she has to sell it. Nosey neighbours wreck everything.
The move was disastrous. Nearly killed me. I started at six in the morning and went ’til I crashed, three days in a row. It’s the first time I can ever remember basically moving myself. When I think of all the people I’ve helped over the years it really sucks that this move was all by myself. Guess you discover your true friends when it comes to moving. Tracy did help me move the BBQ and Crystal helped with unpacking the dishes – not that it matters much now that I have to move it all over again. Yikes!
We went up to see my Mum in the care facility in Revelstoke. It was the trip from hell. The hotel we stayed at didn’t look anything like the pictures on the internet, of course. They forgot to show the peeling paint on the walls and just how old it was. We went out on the town just hoping to dance, but no such luck. I don’t know what these DJ’s are thinking these days. They just play a lot of white noise and nothing you can dance to. I like all kinds of music, but this crap was just terrible. Crystal asked the DJ to play some country so we could get in a couple of dances. It took him so long that the manager bought us drinks for being so patient. Hardly anyone in any of the bars and no wonder with this garbage. Revelstoke sure has changed.
Breakfast was a disaster, for a whole lot of reasons, not the least of which was seeing how bad Mum is now. She asked me a gazillion times about the house sale and didn’t have a clue about anything. She kept wanting to go home to her house on Hugo Avenue, but this is where she lived fifty years ago. The place she’s in has no activities to keep her occupied so she sits around watching TV and phoning my sister all day, which is driving her nuts and interfering with her business. Wendy is looking at sending her back to Kelowna, but she’s out of the system now, so it will be tough to get her in somewhere that doesn’t cost a fortune.
My love life? Well, Crystal has asked me not to comment so publicly about things between us so I have to respect her wishes. We all know how badly the Fiji thing went. Let’s just say that Crystal and I have a ball together, as you can see by the many pictures of the stuff we do, and leave it at that. We went down to Penticton Saturday night to the Blue Mule and saw an excellent Neil Diamond impersonator, and we went biking at Ellison on Sunday, and finished with a great steak dinner at Woody’s in Winfield. Crystal’s son and his wife are coming up this weekend so hopefully I get to meet them. Easter will be a bummer because they only have family for dinner and I haven’t met her Mum and Dad yet, so it will be good ole McDonalds for me. Do they serve turkey at McDees?
